A Hershey's Christmas - stocking stuffers

Hugs & Kisses

Here's a cute treat to make for a stocking stuffer or as a dinner table favor! (I haven't decided yet.)

I started with a clear acetate pillow box, you can find them @ Joy's Life, under the tab "craft containers." You can purchase a 5 pack for only $3.99!

Then fill 'em up with your favorite Christmas candy.

Hershey's Christmas Hugs

To embellish, I created a belly ban using Stampin' Up designer papers, Jolly Holiday.

The circles were cut on my Cricut using the Accent Essentials cart. <Accent6s> page 37 for the scallop & <Accnt1s> for the solid circles in varying sizes, 2" & 1¾".

"Hugs & Kisses" is a Joy's Life stamp from my favorite set  Wintery Puns.

This is a super easy & fast way to add a special touch to your place setting or fill a stocking!

Merry Christmas!

Apple Cinnamon Ornaments

My daughter & I made a few apple cinnamon ornaments and boy, does our house smell good!

The recipe is easy peasy!

Add equal parts applesauce & cinnamon, mix until a dough forms.

Roll out your dough and use your cookie cutters to create fun Christmas shapes.

Use a straw to poke a hole in your ornament for the ribbon.

Air dry on a drying/cooling rack!  If you're letting yours dry on a flat surface, be sure to flip them over so they dry evenly.

We left ours sit by our woodstove and they were dry in a few hours...and the house smelled yummy!

These will not only be wonderful as ornaments but also as tags on a few packages!

I'll leave some setting on the table by the door to hand out when friends drop by too. share the love!

...and did I mention how good they smell?!  I'm lovin' it!

4x4 Wooden Block Snowman - Visions Of Sugarplums Day 3

Let's build a snowman!

This frosty fellow stands about 20 inches tall
and was created with wood scraps.
Isn't he sweet?!

For those who may be new here, my hubby's a custom woodworker so I have access to a very generous scrap pile!
We created our snowman from a three foot piece of a 4x4 and
a scrap of  ¾" board.

The 4x4 was cut to varying lengths:
hat = 5 inches
head = 3½ inches
body = 6½, 9, 11½ inches

The hat rim is a 5½ x 5½ x ¾ inch.

The wood was painted and heavily distressed. The scarf is an old flannel bed sheet, the eyes were hand-drawn and painted with some shiny fabric paint we had on hand. The hat was decorated with ribbon and pieces of silk flowers. His arms were cut from my lilac bush. And his nose was cut from a paint stick.

Happy Holly Days Christmas Cupcakes

Happy Holly Days!

Day 2 - Visions of Sugarplums blog hop.

Need a sweet treat for the classroom Christmas party?
These are fun & easy to create.

The cupcakes are topped with a cream cheese frosting,
mini M&M's and Fruit Roll-Ups hand cut in the shape
of holly leaves.

These would also make a nice teacher gift or maybe a sweet gift for your school bus driver.

I re-purposed a Wilton box into a gift box for one special cupcake!

The insert was removed and wrapped with Stampin' Up design paper then slid back inside the plastic case.  I ran a Nesties label die through my Cuttlebug then cut a white cardstock scrap to fit. The stamp "Happy Holly Days" is from Joy's Life: Wintery Puns stamp set.

Here's my super easy Cream Cheese Frosting recipe...

Cream Cheese Frosting

4 ounces unsalted butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and
cream cheese with an electric mixer.
With the mixer on low speed add the
powdered sugar a cup at a time until
smooth and creamy. Lastly, beat in the vanilla extract.

Cricut Christmas Wall Art -Visions of Sugarplums-Day 1

From Cricut card to wall art!

The Cricut Craft Room has been generously
supplying free Christmas cards cuts for their
users.  When I saw this particular one, I knew
I had to create a wall sign for my foyer.

I liked how they hyphenated the word Christmas,
'highlighting' the word Christ...
the reason for the season!

In the Cricut Craft Room, I enlarged the Christmas card to
fit my 12 x 12 mat, then cut and used it as a stencil. I measured the area of the stencil I wanted to use and found a piece of scrap wood from hubby's shop and sanded the edges.  I 'pounced' some acrylic paint on it with a contrasting color and that was it.
Fast, easy & fun!

If you have an electronic cutting machine,
do you use it to create home decor?
